Ajit Kumar Doval was born on January 20, 1945, and currently serves as India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He has a background in the Indian Police Service (IPS) and was the chief of the Intelligence Bureau (IB).
Before becoming IB’s director in 2004–05, he spent ten years leading its operations.

He also worked as an undercover spy for IB in Pakistan for a year and later served as an officer in the Indian High Commission in Islamabad for six years. Much of his career has been dedicated to working as a spy for IB.
His notable achievements as a spy and intelligence chief include Operation Black Thunder in 1988, the rescue of 46 Indian nationals in Iraq, operations against Nagaland militants in 2015 with the Indian army, and efforts to counter the terror organization PFI, among others.
