In Saint Michael appeared to Antonia d’Astonac, a Carmelite nun in Portugal,
and told her that he wished to be honored by nine salutations corresponding to the
nine Choirs of Angels, which should consist of one Our Father and three Hail Marys in
honor of each of the angelic choirs.
St. Michael promised his continual assistance and that of all the holy angels during
life for those who practiced this devotion in his honor.
The Chaplet was approved and indulgenced by Bl. Pope Pius IX in
The chaplet is begun by saying the following invocation on the medal of St.
Michael:
O God, come to my assistance.
O Lord, make haste to help me.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, as it was in the
beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.
Say one Our Father and three Hail Marys after each of the following nine salutations
in honor of the nine choirs of angels.
